Student Activities

One of the first things students learn at W&L is that there is plenty to do when not in class.

The range of activities at W&L is limited only by our students’ imaginations. As a result, the weekly calendar of events is full of performances and lectures, athletic contests and organizational meetings, exhibits and intramural sports. With more clubs and organizations than can be listed here, students can expand their existing interests or explore something brand new. You might even start your own club with others who share your interests.

We could go on and on about the opportunities and activities available to students, but why not find out for yourself? Come to campus and start something — or lead something!

What Will You Do?

W&L believes in developing well-rounded citizens, and it provides students opportunities to grow as scholars, compete as athletes, evolve as leaders, and succeed in their careers.

Arts and Culture

Whether on stage or on a canvas, Lexington has a vibrant arts scene. We're talking performances on campus, art festivals downtown, visiting dancers and musicians—no matter your preferred medium, there's inspiration here.

Sacred Spaces

Spiritual and Religious Life

While Washington and Lee University is a non-sectarian institution, we realize that spirituality is part of a student's holistic development. We provide programs, resources and spaces for all students to learn, explore and grow.

“I made amazing friends I know will be there for years. Some were on my hall my first year; others I met through classes, social events, clubs, organizations and much more.”
